My name is Andrea Henriquez and I am from El Salvador which is a small country in Central America. My first language is Spanish, and my second language is English. I remember when I was little my parents were really adventurous, and we did many things on the weekends. My parents have always been very spontaneous, and I can remember them waking us up at 5:00 am in the morning telling us: “Kids wake up, we are going to Guatemala for the weekend”. Guatemala is four hours away by car and the road was amazingly beautiful. My mom prepared sandwiches for the road and every time we went on a road trip, we stopped at a gas station to buy chips, water and pop drinks. I am used to go to new places because I grew up with my parents that loved travelling. Since I like to go to new places, meet new people I knew that going to another country to study tourism was going to be an amazing experience. I researched about TRU and I loved the Tourism program. It was hard for me to make a decision because moving to another country entails different culture, climate, new friends and a different language, so I was afraid that I was not going to quickly adapt, but I did. Going to Canada has been one of the best decisions I ever made because I have met incredible people and breathtaking places.
I love travelling, going to new places and try new food. I would love to have a boutique hotel with an amazing restaurant and very personalized services. I really like making people feel welcome, happy and comfortable with their surroundings. I think a way to do that is making the experience very personalized that is why I want to have a small hotel with an exquisite cuisine.
The tourism industry is very broad, but I am really interested in the hospitality part of it. I would love to have a hotel in a place with a warm weather since I love hot climates and the beach. Going to the beach can change my mood instantly and also reminds me of home. This E-portfolio will show our case study on Chile as a destination, our tour route-Love for local-, my resume and what type of tourist I am.
The photo I chose represents my favorite place on earth, the love for destinations with beaches and where would I want to have my hotel.
